Al Ain FC have done it! The local team qualified for the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup in an epic penalty shoot-out finish on Tuesday night.
Goalkeeper Khalid Essa will go down in history after saving the final penalty in the nail-biting match against South American team River Plate.
Al Ain has been trending ever since and residents are SO proud. ‘Now you know who is Al Ain’, ‘it’s a beautiful day,’ and even UAE royals have taken to Twitter to praise the team, with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai sending congratulations to the team.
