UAE And Other Countries Welcome Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

The UAE has joined Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan in welcoming U.S. President Donald Trump’s ambitious new plan to end the war in Gaza.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers praised Trump’s leadership, saying they were confident in his ability to deliver peace and stability to the region. They highlighted the importance of working with Washington on rebuilding Gaza, preventing the displacement of Palestinians and blocking any annexation of the West Bank.

So, what’s actually in Trump’s peace plan?

Here’s the breakdown of the 20 point proposal that has everyone talking:

Immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas
Hostage swap within 72 hours where Israel releases 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 others detained since 2023
Staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza
Amnesty for Hamas fighters who disarm and accept coexistence
No Hamas in governance of Gaza
Unrestricted humanitarian aid through the UN, Red Crescent and global agencies
Rafah crossing reopened for aid and movement
Technocratic interim government to run Gaza
Board of Peace led by Trump with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair who led the 2003 Iraq invasion expected to join
Major economic redevelopment plan to rebuild Gaza
No annexation or forced displacement
Pathway to Palestinian statehood through reforms and dialogue

The bigger picture…

It’s an ambitious vision, no doubt. Trump sees Gaza transformed into a rebuilt, secure and economically thriving territory, with the long term possibility of Palestinian statehood. But many questions remain, especially about enforcement, credibility and whether all sides are ready to accept it.
