Job-seekers in the UAE might have to pay a fee as a security deposit prior to receiving a UAE visit visa, it has been announced.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship has said it is considering putting special conditions in place for job-seekers, to help reduce the amount of visit-visa overstayers.

Job-seekers entering the UAE on a visit visa may need to offer a sum of money to ensure they leave the UAE at the end of their visa.

The news follows thousands of people availing the UAE’s visa amnesty programme, a large percentage of which entered the country on a visit visa and overstayed.

The six month job-seeker visa was announced by the UAE Cabinet

And is part of government initiatives to offer longer and more permanent visas to expatriates, including a 10-year visa for some academics and entrepreneurs, a student visa for people studying and the job-seeker visa.
