The UAE Ministry has confirmed that Qatari nationals can now re-enter the UAE by obtaining prior permission.

On June 5, 2017, news broke out that the UAE had cut diplomatic ties with Qatar. They closed all sea, land and air space shared with Qatar.

The severing of ties resulted in Emiratis being banned from travelling to Qatar and all UAE nations in Qatar were ordered to return home.

The measures taken by UAE against Qatar were for reasons related to national security, in support of the same decision made by the Kingdom of Bahrain and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Qatari citizens were given 14 days to leave the UAE after the fall out on June 5.

However, the UAE did not take any action against those who remained in the country after the period had expired.

Now, Qataris citizens overseas need to get permission before they enter the country, the permission however, will only be applicable for a limited time period.

Qatari citizens who are already a resident in the country do not require permission to continue residence but those wanting to re-enter the territory, are required to obtain permission.
