UAE Becomes FIRST In The World To Use K9 Police Dogs To Detect COVID-19 Cases Amongst Travellers
According to a video released by the Dubai Police on Thursday, July 30, Dubai International Airport has dedicated a special area to detect COVID-19 using K9 police DOGS amongst travellers at the terminals.
Those arriving in the UAE will be the first passengers in the world to undergo COVID-19 detection by police dogs.
Samples are being taken in collab with partners from Dubai Health Authority, (DHA), where results are made available in less than a minute!!
(Please note: From August 1 negative COVID-19 test certificates will be mandatory upon arrival at DXB terminals).
Oops, fur-got (lol) to mention that these trained doggos at DXB airports are working to sniff out possible infections using swabs of human scent gathered from arriving passengers
Police dogs are taken to an isolation room (allocated in airports across the country) where the dogs then sniff around to detect the virus from a number of samples
Travellers do NOT come in contact with the K9 police dogs whatsoever as the doggos are only exposed to the samples in an isolated room
The trained K9s can sniff out the possibility of infection in just a few seconds
PSA: DHA is reminding all Dubai citizens and returning residents to treat wearing a face mask at all times as the NEW normal!
The UAE has been using police dogs as an additional defence against the novel coronavirus, thus you are still required to abide by travel regulations and guidelines to curb the spread of the virus, such as undergo a PCR-testing on arrival and wear a mask at all times.
