Rapper, Vanilla Ice was aboard the Emirates A380 that was quarantined in New York’s JFK airport, following passengers falling ill yesterday.

Several passengers came down with fever and coughing, and the USA’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC) took the plane into quarantine.

Vanilla Ice says he was on the upper deck of the A380 – Emirates’ Airbuses have economy on the lower level and business and first class upstairs – and was grateful to be.

This is crazy. Apparently there is over 100 people sick on the bottom floor, so happy I’m up top, it’s a double-decker plane 380

Emirates released a statement last night on the matter, and kept everyone updated via the official Twitter account

Media Statement #2: Emirates can confirm that all passengers have disembarked from flight #EK203. All passengers were screened by local health authorities prior to disembarkation. 3 passengers & 7 crew were transferred to the hospital for further medical care and evaluation. 1/4

All other #EK203 passengers were allowed to leave and clear customs. Our crew & on-ground staff extended full cooperation with the authorities during the onboard screenings & the aircraft has now been handed back to Emirates. 2/4
