ANNOUNCEMENT: UAE Leaders Have Extended The Country’s Visa Amnesty By One Month

Avatar

The successful visa amnesty scheme in the UAE, which started in August and granted all visa-overstayers a chance to modify their status, has been extended for ONE month on the occasion of UAE National Day.

The centres will once again start accepting applications from tomorrow, December 4 until December 31.

The programme, which already saw a 30-day extension was supposed to end on November 30, 2018.

In fact, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Lt Colonel Ahmad Al Dallal initially said that the deadline is not planned to be extended.

The amnesty is now entering its fifth month of operation

The scheme originally started on August 1 and thousands of residents who have been staying here or entered the country illegally have already benefited from the amnesty.

These people were given a chance to leave the country without having to pay fines for overstaying their visas. Some were also given the chance to apply for an exit pass.
