You’ve all heard the joke that this generation is heartless. Well, doctors say their hearts are very much there, but also very much at risk.
On September 29th, World Heart Day, the UAE doctors revealed a concerning data:
Many major cardiovascular problems, which was earlier noticed among older folks, have become more common among those under the age of 50s as well. That’s up to 15 years sooner than the global average age.

According to doctors in the UAE, it’s a mix of things that we all know too well:
Stressful work environments
Too much junk food & sodas
Family history of heart diseases
And adding onto that, viral infections like the flu and Covid-19 have made people more prone to cardiovascular risks.
A report by the National cited patient data from 5 private hospitals and 26 clinics across Dubai and Sharjah, and revealed that half of the heart attack cases in the city were under the age of 50.
And the bigger picture? Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of deaths worldwide, with over millions of lives lost each year. In the UAE alone, it’s responsible for 34% of all deaths, according to the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
But here’s the hopeful bit:
Sometimes all it takes is small tweaks in lifestyle: eating better, moving more, managing stress, and getting regular check-ups for early diagnosis.
On the World Heart Day, UAE doctors wanted to remind everyone — especially the younger generation — to take their hearts into consideration.
So from now on, add ‘taking care of your heart’ to the 5-step self-care routine that you dedicately invest into.
