A cement ceiling on the third floor of a residential building collapsed early on Tuesday morning, injuring one person while another is missing.

The building, located in Al Muhaisna 1, in the Mirdif area is currently under construction.

Police were alerted at approximately 8am and informed that one worker was trapped inside the building after the ceiling had collapsed. 

The search is ongoing

Lieut-Col Ahmad Atik Burqibah, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department at Dubai Police told Gulf News that one worker is injured while another is missing and that the search was ongoing. Sniffer dogs have been employed to support the search.

An investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the incident.
