A FIFA World Cup Promotion Is Coming Across As A Rather Sexist Marketing Stunt
A new FIFA World Cup promotion is coming off a little bit sexist, with its promises of a ‘WAGS area’ for the World Cup.
It says ‘footie is not just for the boys’, with offerings of a special females’ area during World Cup matches.
It also refers to women as ‘worldies’ which one savvy twitter user pointed out – is a ‘world class goal’ meaning referring to someone attractive.
A Worldie:
Football term. A ‘worldie’ is a sensational goal i.e. world class. Hence, used towards a person, someone outrageously attractive.

It was published on social media…but has since been removed
But the email blasts continue to be distributed.
People are not impressed
I’ve called them out before on a similar ad for Valentine’s Day… Something about “give your wife a break from the housework and take her out for dinner” ???????????? https://t.co/wrg3DRWTaP

Ugh! How reductive. Another place to avoid if they think that’s okay.
