At first thought, you’d probably not consider the scale at which movie shootings taking place in a city or a country affects that country.

Several Hollywood and Bollywood movies have been filmed in Dubai, like two Jackie Chan pictures, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and more- it’s no surprise why, Dubai’s scenic, futuristic and desert locations can account for a variety of movie types, after all. But, contrary to popular belief, and as confirmed by the man behind Dubai’s movies, Jamal Al Sharif, they contribute to a WHOLE lot in terms of a country’s economy.

In this week’s episode of DUBAI WORKS, the Dubai Film and TV Commission’s Chairman, Jamal Al Sharif, goes into detail about HOW these big-budget movies add to Dubai’s economy- and why it’s his job to ensure that it keeps on coming.
