After a week of tense relations between Qatar and the rest of the Gulf, it looks as though the nation could be ready to find a resolution to the diplomatic crisis.
Kuwait has been attempting to act as mediator between Qatar and the countries it has fallen out with, and a statement was released on the Kuwaiti national news agency on Sunday.
It quoted Kuwait’s foreign minister, Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah:
“Qataris are willing to find a solution to the current dilemma.
“(Kuwait) affirms the readiness of the brothers in Qatar to understand the reality of the qualms and concerns of their brothers and to heed the noble endeavors to enhance security and stability.”
“The state of Kuwait will not abandon its efforts and will continue its good will efforts to patch the rift and find a solution that will deal with the root cause of the causes of the dispute… in the brotherly relations.”
He emphasised that diplomacy is what would solve the crisis, and Qatar showing it will change policies in regards to financing terror groups and extremism.
At heart of current crisis in Gulf is Qatar’s support for extremism & terrorism. Change of course only solution for the sake of stability.
