The King of Saudi Arabia, HH King Salman bin Abdualziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has appointed his 31-year-old son as Crown Prince, relieving Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef of his duties.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman is now the prime minister of Saudi Arabia, and will be the successor of King Salman.
Prince Mohammed bin Nayef has been relieved of all his positions, according to the Saudi press agency, effective immediately – however reasons for the changes were not stated.
King Salman has called for a public pledging of loyalty to Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday evening in Mecca.
Prince Mohammed bin Nayef was Saudi’s interior minister overseeing security.
