In a series of Royal Orders announced late last night Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has ordered the resignation of many top officials in Saudi Arabia.
He also ordered the establishment of a new security agency to bring together counter-terrorism and domestic intelligence in a move to improve the performance of security sectors in the Kingdom.
The new agency was created “due to the importance of improving the performance of security sectors of the Kingdom to match with the latest modern administrative systems to reflect the most highest preparedness levels to cope with the new developments and confront all security challenges with the most needed flexibility, preparedness and ability to show swift movement to face any emergency”
Some agencies, previously part of the Ministry of Interior, will be annexed to the new Presidency Of State Security including investigations, special emergency forces, security aviation and other departments in charge of combatting terrorism.
General Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Huwairini Al-Askari was relived of his former services and appointed to Chief of the State Security in the rank of minister.
Sulaiman bin Naif bin Atallah Al-Katheeri was relieved of his post as Chief of the Private Affairs of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and replaced by Thamer bin Nabil bin Abdul-Elah Naseef.
Lieutenant General Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Ohali was relieved of his post as Chief of the Royal Guard and is replaced by Lieutenant General Staff Suhail bin Saqr Al-Mitairi.
