The Dubai Civility Committee held its inaugural meeting, guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to make Dubai the best and most civilised city in the world.
Chaired by H.E. Mohammad Al Gergawi, the meeting brought together senior officials including H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, H.E. Abdulla Al Basti, H.E. Omar Al Olama, H.E. Lt. General Abdullah Al Marri, H.E. Helal Al Marri, and H.E. Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita.
The framework focuses on strengthening public behaviour, visual harmony, and overall quality of life, ensuring civility is reflected in everyday interactions, public spaces, and institutional practices.
H.E. Al Gergawi emphasised that civility is central to Dubai’s identity—measured not only by urban development, but by cleanliness, aesthetics, respect for rules, and the conduct of its people. He stressed that the committee will create an integrated system to develop, measure, and monitor civility with clear indicators, technology-driven tracking, and ongoing benchmarking against global standards.
During the meeting, members discussed research collaboration with global experts, enhanced compliance and monitoring tools, and programmes to embed positive values across the community. The committee also approved work plans to strengthen Dubai’s visual identity and elevate the public realm.
Together, these measures aim to safeguard Dubai’s refined urban experience and reinforce its position among the world’s most beautiful, orderly, and civilized cities.
