2019 was announced as the Year of Tolerance, and people living in the UAE have since witnessed what this means and how it’s been implemented.
It’s more than just a year, after all, but a commemoration of tolerating everything; from wavering off fines (which the city has done!), and allowing all religions to co-exist in peace, building bridges from one culture to another.
As is the theme with the World Tolerance Summit, back for its second year, and to take place for two days between November 13-14, 2019 at the Madinat Jumeirah Convention Centre. The chosen slogan for this year’s summit will focus on “Tolerance in Multiculturalism: Achieving Social, Economic, and Humanitarian Benefits of a Tolerant World.”Â

Thanks to the International Institute for Tolerance in Dubai, under the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the second edition of the World Tolerance Summit (WTS) is back.
The inspiring slogan, mentioned above, will be discussed by many dignitaries, renowned speakers and committee members to shed a light on this year’s declaration, and how it has positively affected the UAE so far. The date for this summit isn’t a coincidence either, since the International Day of Tolerance, falls under November 16 annually.

It will serve as an open platform for dialogue among state heads, schools, and the youth of Dubai to discuss topics related to the Year of Tolerance and how to improve human-to-human interaction, co-existing and just overall being a good individual.
Quite an important discussion, if you ask us.

UAE governments will also showcase the initiatives they have taken on, with regards to tolerance. While, The Digital Tolerance Library will offer a read-up for visitors, with hundreds of books on tolerance.
Artists and photographers from all over the world will also get to exhibit their work, and residents can take part in the live broadcast on the official YouTube channel- for anyone who wants to share their perception and understanding on tolerance in multiculturalism.
