McDonald’s Are Getting A Brilliant Response To The Ramadan 2018 Ad

Avatar

A couple of Ramadan ads hit headlines this year.

We saw a powerful and bold ad from Zain, the Kuwaiti owned telecommunications company, which wished people Ramadan Kareem while addressing the leaders of the world and asking for help. This ad divided opinion, with some people calling ‘exploitation’ of the Holy Month, and others labelling the ad brilliant.

While this McDonalds’s ad has received an overwhelmingly positive reaction…

The McDonald’s 2018 Ramadan ad is based on a delivery driver living in Singapore

Their tag: ‘Sharing food creates a bond like no other. This Ramadan, McDonald’s brings you even more reasons to share.’

You see Adik rise before sunrise with his family. Meet friends. Deliver McDonald’s in the city, help people out with directions, take the stairs when the lift is broken and deliver meals.

As expected, McDonald’s hits the nail on the emotive head. The viewer can nearly SMELL the McDonald’s. The final scene, of an older man sharing a Happy Meal after it’s clear Adik has forgotten it’s time to break fast is touching.

It’s a reminder to respect delivery drivers

And it’s giving people the feels

‘Fasting but life goes on’

One YT user pointed out an inaccuracy

But the overall feeling was positive
