A new study has found 57% of UAE residents are expecting price hikes on basic necessities in supermarkets during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

According to the study, conducted by YouGov, residents in the UAE and Saudi Arabia expect to see increases in prices during the Holy Month of Ramadan, despite government rulings that it should not be the case.

The news comes despite the Ministry of Economy stating that basic foodstuff should drop in price by up to 50%.

Consumer spending during the Holy Month tends to increase by 15-30%.
