A new 2018 survey suggests that UAE consumers are very optimistic and share positive sentiments about the country and what’s to come.

A new research by YouGov Omnibus surveyed over 1,000 UAE residents to understand any attitudes they may feel towards the UAE in the 2018.

Surprisingly 50% share positive attitudes for 2018 in the country

The survey of UAE residents’ sentiments found that:

  •  50% have positive attitudes.
  •  34% have neutral attitudes.
  •  15% have  negative attitudes.

This was after almost 62% of residents felt that some challenges may arise in 2018 with the introduction of the VAT, but the study suggests a move towards positivity.

Income tax proves to be a big worry for UAE residents

However, UAE residents are thinking big picture and are asking what else is next under the VAT introduction – almost 54% of people brought the question of whether the income tax will be enforced in the future.

Head of Omnibus Research, Kerry McLaren commented, “As the UAE is getting to grips with VAT, this research reveals a community still largely uncertain of its future impact. […] The fact that sentiment for 2018 is largely positive shows the country to be in a solid position, with a community yet to reserve strong judgement on VAT as we start the new year.”
