If you’ve questioned some of the VAT prices, there’s a slim chance you may be questioning with good cause.

14 retailers were found to have increased prices on December 31, before Value Added Tax was officially introduced in the UAE.

Government inspections were carried out at malls and stores across the UAE following customers complaints, according to the National.

All businesses should be registered for VAT at this point

Those not registered are not permitted to charge VAT.

Fines for overcharging VAT could set a retailer back between AED500 and AED15,000.

If you have any questions regarding VAT, consult the official VAT website, or VAT user guide
