Imagine taking a stroll one day and coming across a patch on the sand that’s boiling vigorously.
That will surely freak us out!
This is exactly what happened when residents at the Sira area on the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan road in the Umm Al Quwain emirate discovered the ‘boiling sand’ patch.
Scared, they alerted the authorities after a video went viral on social media on Tuesday.
Traffic patrols were mmediately dispatched to the site.
Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of traffic and patrols department at UAQ police, spoke to Khaleej Times and informed that “the vertical surge of sand is due to an increase in the amount of air inside a network cable.”
“Specialised teams from the UAQ civil defence department, federal electricity and water authority, and Etisalat UAQ, were also available to examine the case and identify the reasons behind.”
“The excess air reported in the Etisalat network cable has been discharged.”
