If you’ve experienced Ramadan in Dubai, then chances are you know just how at peace the entire city becomes during this time of the year.
That’s the beauty of the Holy Month, regardless of ones’ religion- tolerance is so well-adapted by everyone living here that it doesn’t feel like we’re practising someone else’s faith.
From Christians in the UAE holding month-long iftars in churches to the mere act of distributing food boxes in the streets during rush hour.
There’s an apparent unison among the residents of this community- and it’s that togetherness that creates perfect harmony in the UAE.
In this episode of It’s a Dubai Thing, the docu-web series exploring different cultural celebrations in Dubai, Lovin Dubai explores ‘Giving back during Ramadan’; we spoke to people who are in charge of great initiatives making significant differences towards those in need and how this inspires them to keep going- even after the Holy Month comes to an end.
One of the Holy Month of Ramadan’s main messages is to refrain from vices, temptation and to take this time to be more mindful.
Additionally, this month also encourages people to do more for their community, to give back (in whatever way they can) and just be good. As a result, the Dubai community goes above and beyond to do just that.
Volunteers from all walks of life come together, take time out of their day to help with a common goal.
And what do they want in return? Absolutely nothing.
“The whole city is overwhelmed with goodness, kindness, contribution and people giving back.”
