A Dubai Resident Spotted This Rare Sight In Marina On Wednesday Morning

A rare sighting of a large school of eagle rays was spotted in Marina on Wednesday morning.

Dubai resident Phil Banks spotted the thirty + eagle rays heading back in the direction of the open sea, where they’re usually found.

Here’s the footage: The first video was taken from the Marina bridge by the address hotel

And the second video was snapped from the Bluewaters footbridge

The generally shy species feed on small fish and crustaceans, they’re not usually aggressive towards humans, however they do have a venomous barb at the end of their tail for defense.

They have the ability to swim long distances and in some circumstances they are capable of leaping wholly out of the water.

Following the sad news of numerous rays beached on Kite Beach two months ago, fingers crossed this school made it back to the open water safely.
