The Ellie Holman story has garnered media attention internationally for all the wrong reasons.

In short, a claim was taken against Ms Holman by UAE authorities when she attempted to enter Dubai on an invalid passport and proceeded to insult and film immigration officers when she was told she would only be eligible for a 96-hour temporary visa.

However, international press are reporting she was arrested for drinking a glass of wine, kept in a prison for three days, and forced to clean toilets.

These fake news stories are quite possibly the most infuriating thing to read as lovers of the city (Read Lovin’s recommendation to UK’s The Guardian to issue Dubai an apology here).
