Here Are 6 Brilliantly Fun Things To Do In Dubai This Weekend

Avatar

What. A Week.

Residents are still reeling from the surprise wedding of three sons of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the announcement that the UAE will give gold card permanent status to over 6,000 eligible non-Emiratis while Will Smith helped Kris Fade raise the bar for most romantic proposals going..

But it doesn’t stop there, the weekend is night and here are six brilliant activities you can get involved in.

Sliding into the weekend like

6. This iftar at Mitts & Trays is brilliant value

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting Mitts & Trays, you’ll know the food is a step up from your regular cafe concept. A huge hit with the City Walk crowd, the cafe has opened up another branch in Bluewaters and both are offering a very decent iftar menu.

For JUST AED105, you’ll kick your meal off with dates, water, soup of the day, followed by a salad for starters that’s easily big enough to be a main course, a beautifully served main and dessert – the portions here are particularly generous; you’ll probably leave with a doggy bag!

The food is excellent, the staff are genuinely friendly and the interiors are complete goals. Definitely one to try before the end of the Holy Month.

Where? Mitts & Trays, City Walk or Bluewaters

5. Get creative at ARTE at Times Square

People with a passion for unique hand-crafted goods need to check out ARTE, where you’ll find a whole mix of UAE made products ranging from art, jewellery, fashion, home decor, sweet treats, and more.

There are also free creative workshops and demonstrations throughout the day.

When? Friday, May 24 from 10am – 6pm

4. Join a SUP class at Kite Beach

Because it’s not the height of the summer just yet and you’ll find most relief at sea, this is a brill option for this weekend.

Stand Up Paddle boarding is so relaxed it’s horizontal, so if you’re looking for something chill and outdoorsy, this will be right up your street.

3. Support local talent and check out an incredible Emirati-made feature film

Rashid & Rajab is an Emirati made movie from director Mohammed Saeed Harib, director of popular animation Freej.

It’s a freak body swap story, shot nearly entirely in Dubai and there are even talks of the movie signing a deal with Cannes Film Festival, so it’s possible the movie might soon make it on the global stage.

The movie had a huge UAE premier on Tuesday night and is expected for city released during Eid; you can learn more about the movie here.

2. Al Fanous Lounge at Dubai Ballroom Ramadan offer

In celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the ballroom transforms, and family and friends gather to enjoy a classic Arabian iftar while an oud player adds to the atmosphere.
