The UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is currently in discussions with Microsoft and Apple, with the aim of lifting the ban on popular\u00a0online calling services such as\u00a0Skype and FaceTime in the UAE.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Director General of the TRA,\u00a0Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, said that the UAE is in talks with providing these services in the UAE, according to a report<\/a> in Al Ittihad, an Arabic language daily\u00a0newspaper, with the aim of providing\u00a0improved internet voice services for residents.<\/p>\n

The post also reported the strong links between Microsoft and Apple with the UAE and the tech giant’s continued expansions in the region.<\/p>\n

Currently residents have access to unlimited monthly calls at a monthly rate via BOTIM and C’Me<\/a><\/p>\n
