A Scottish man’s recent ordeal in Dubai has come to an end today after he was released by police.<\/p>\n
31 year old Billy Barclay was detained by police in September 2017 after an incident which occurred in September last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr. Barclay attempted to exchange a small sum of money in an exchange centre in Ras Al Khaimah last year when one of the notes, \u00a320, turned out to be a forgery.<\/p>\n
Police were called to the centre and Mr. Barclay was arrested and questioned but later released with no charges.<\/p>\n
Mr. Barlcay and his family continued with their holiday and returned home to Scotland with no further issues.<\/p>\n
Not deterred by their experience in 2016 the family returned on another holiday to Dubai last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It was then that Mr. Barcaly was stopped and detained at Dubai International Airport.<\/p>\n
Mr. Barclay was detained by police for three days in jail and had his passport confiscated.<\/p>\n
His wife and family returned home to Scotland and have been working tirelessly to get him home for the last three weeks.<\/p>\n
Mr. Barclay’s legal team have said that the issue has been resolved and the charges cleared.<\/p>\n
Mr. Barclay received his passport and was escorted to the airport yesterday evening to be reunited with his family in Scotland.<\/p>\n
