The 54th UAE National Day will be held on Tuesday, December 2

This means the official days off in the Emirates will be December 2 and Wednesday, December 3. For many, that is a bit of a bummer, since it means Monday will be a working day and hence, no long weekend.

But there is a law in place to make everyone happy! And not many know about it…

The UAE public holiday law states that holidays can be moved around

So, all official public holidays in the country (besides Eid holidays) can be switched around to accommodate a long weekend. The law permits holidays to be moved to the beginning or end of the week to provide a longer holiday to residents.

If the public law is considered, and Monday is given off instead of Wednesday, then UAE residents will enjoy a four-day weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday).

But the best news is that there is also a chance that Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday are off. And if this happens, it will mean five days of party!

It is more likely, however, that the December 3 holiday would move to Monday and, instead, we would get a four-day holiday when combined with the weekend. Long weekend loading…
