A story that touched the entire country<\/h2>\n

What started as one little boy\u2019s fight quickly turned into something much bigger. Ten-year-old Iraqi child Youssef Haidar, living in the UAE, captured hearts across the country. And in just weeks, an entire community stepped in to change his future. His diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy meant a life of progressive muscle weakness, affecting movement, breathing, and heart function. Without treatment, he could have been confined to a wheelchair at a very young age.<\/p>\n

Race against time for a single dose<\/h2>\n

There was one option that could help;Elevidys, a breakthrough gene therapy given in a single dose. It offered hope to slow the disease and strengthen his muscles, but came at a staggering cost of over AED 10.6 million. With a limited window to receive the treatment, Youssef\u2019s journey quickly became a race against time, leaving his family holding onto hope while the clock ticked.<\/p>\n

Community that refused to look away<\/h2>\n

When his story was shared, the response was immediate. Residents across the UAE came together without hesitation, donating and spreading the word. Youssef himself was also sharing sweet videos on social media, explaining his condition in his own words and asking for help, which made the situation even more real for so many people.<\/p>\n

As the total climbed and the goal was finally reached, he returned with another video, this time simply saying thank you to the UAE. It was a small, incredibly cute moment that said everything. Leading the efforts was the Dar Al Ber Society, with CEO Abdullah Al Falasi and the team working tirelessly to secure the full amount, backed by a wave of generosity that reflected the true spirit of the community.<\/p>\n
