{"id":10801,"date":"2018-07-20T08:45:22","date_gmt":"2018-07-20T08:45:22","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2018-07-20T08:45:22","modified_gmt":"2018-07-20T08:45:22","slug":"emirates-english-speaking-school-to-shut-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lovin.co\/dubai\/en\/announcements\/emirates-english-speaking-school-to-shut-down\/","title":{"rendered":"SHOCKING: An Extremely Popular Dubai School Is Going To Permanently Shut Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"c-adunit c-adunit--mpu\">\n<div id=\"mpu\" class=\"c-adunit__container\"> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A 39-year-old Indian school in Dubai will shut down ahead of the start of the new academic year.<\/p>\n<p>Emirates English Speaking School (EESS) will be closing its doors to the 1,650 students currently enrolled in the campus after being rated &#8216;weak&#8217; by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) for two consecutive years straight. <\/p>\n<p>The school opened in 1979, follows the CBSE curriculum and has 109 teachers at present. All parents have been informed about the closure.<\/p>\n<h3>The school is now working to relocate students to other schools<\/h3>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.khaleejtimes.com\/nation\/dubai\/second-school-in-dubai-set-to-close-its-doors-to-students--\" target=\"_blank\">Khaleej Times<\/a>, Mohammed Darwish, chief of regulations and permits commission at the KHDA, released a statement saying:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The KHDA has approved the school management&#8217;s request to discontinue educational services at the Emirates English Speaking School from the next academic year. The school has already put in place a plan to ensure students affected by the closure can be accommodated in other schools and it will help parents and students with a smooth transition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The school will remain operational until March 2019, which is the end of the current academic year.<\/p>\n<h3>Financial constraints has been cited as one of the reasons for the closure<\/h3>\n<p>Khaleel Shubair, an administration manager at EESS told Khaleej Times:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The school fees at EESS have historically been extremely low and it has become difficult to provide high level of resources and attract quality staff, given the financial constraints.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-adunit c-adunit--mpu_mid\">\n<div id=\"mpu_mid\" class=\"c-adunit__container\"> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 39-year-old Indian school in Dubai will shut down ahead of the start of the new academic year.
