One of the most popular social media app, TikTok has issued a public apology to a 17-year-old user after suspending her account for talking about China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims.

The video starts with 17-year-old Feroza Aziz giving her viewers an ‘Eyelash curling’ tutorial and a few seconds into the video she advises them to use their phones to check out what’s going on in China.

The Afghan-American used her platform to raise awareness about the Muslim minority groups believed to be detained in China’s Xinjiang region.

There are Muslims who are being detained in government internment camps, according to international news.

The video went viral, and her account was suspended because of it. However, TikTok also mentioned that there was another video related to Osama bin Laden which violated TikTok’s policies.

Even though the app is not authorized in China, it is still owned by a Chinese company.

However, on Wednesday, the app issued a public apology and gave the teen access to her account.
