The level of ignorance that surrounds the\u00a0Middle\u00a0East (and the questions we get asked)\u00a0are\u00a0sometimes mind-boggling, and\u00a0generally based on…what? A stupid, misguided post\u00a0on Facebook? Or a flippant comment from a guy that passed through the airport once or twice?<\/p>\n

And so, because it’s fun to vent, we’ve decided to list our favourite\u00a0‘stupid questions’ we’ve ever\u00a0been asked about Dubai –\u00a0and we’ve even\u00a0included\u00a0some\u00a0part-factual, part-attempting-to-be-witty\u00a0answers too. Ever been asked a silly\u00a0question before? Vent them out in the comments section, you never know,\u00a0venting here\u00a0might prevent you punching the next stupid-question-asker in the face.<\/p>\n

1. Is everyone\u00a0really rich?<\/h3>\n

(An obvious one to start.)\u00a0Yes, we all drive around in Lambos and Bentleys…but I continue my job in\u00a0sales for the love of conversation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yep, they’re very\u00a0common, but unfortunately\u00a0we don’t drive one. (This follows on with similar pattern of\u00a0questions;\u00a0does everyone have a pet lion? And are the pavements really\u00a0made of gold??)<\/p>\n

It’s a pretty bilingual country actually…or super multi-lingual if you take into account all nationalities and languages spoken.\u00a0<\/p>\n

….In which you must\u00a0proceed to explain that Dubai is not a country, but\u00a0one of seven Emirates which make up the\u00a0United Arab Emirates…of which Abu Dhabi is the capital.\u00a0<\/p>\n
