It’s no secret that Emirates is a fantastic carrier and is hands down our favourite. However, when\u00a0Airlineratings.com,\u00a0the world\u2019s foremost safety and product rating website, released its list for world’s top ten airlines for 2017, Emirates wasn’t on it. Sources say the crash landing incident which took place in August caused\u00a0the damage\u00a0to the airline’s safety records.<\/p>\n

The best of the best crown went to\u00a0Air New Zealand<\/h3>\n

To be named in the top ten, airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort. Air New Zealand is going strong\u00a0– it’s taken the number one spot for the fourth consecutive year.<\/p>\n

The ones who made it on the list include:<\/h3>\n

Qantas Airways at number two followed by\u00a0Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Virgin Australia\/Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Etihad Airways, All Nippon Airways, Eva Air and Lufthansa.<\/p>\n

At its\u00a0Airline Excellence Awards, there were other winners too<\/h3>\n

Best Economy Class<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Singapore Airlines<\/p>\n

Best Cabin Crew\u00a0<\/strong>–\u00a0Virgin Group airlines<\/p>\n

Best\u00a0Catering and Best Lounge<\/strong>\u00a0– Qantas<\/p>\n

Best long-haul\u00a0<\/strong>– Etihad (Middle East\/Africa), Singapore Airlines (Asia\/Pacific), Virgin Atlantic (Europe) and Delta Airline Lines (The Americas)<\/p>\n

Best low-cost airline<\/strong>\u00a0– Virgin America (The Americas), Scoot (Asia\/Pacific), Kulula.com (Africa\/ Middle-East) and Norwegian (Europe)<\/p>\n

And\u00a0Emirates won the\u00a0Best In-Flight Entertainment<\/h3>\n

Totally understandable!\u00a0After all, very few airlines have the ability to keep us as entertained as Emirates does on long-haul or even short\u00a0flights. The Dubai-based carrier has been described as “one of the pioneers of IFE” –\u00a0by\u00a01993 all the airline\u2019s seats were fitted with IFE.<\/p>\n
