A number of Dubai expats stranded abroad due to travel restrictions have claimed that their expired residency visa<\/strong> has been automatically extended until December 9, 2021.<\/p>\n

Potentially residents with expired visas – from countries such as India, Sri Lanka and others where inbound flights to the UAE were temporarily suspended – will be granted an automatic visa renewal, including a 1-month grace period for reapplication.<\/p>\n

Khaleej Times<\/em> reported the same adding that, “travel agents who have been trying to get pre-travel approvals for residents stranded in India and Pakistan, for example, have also confirmed that their clients have been granted an automatic visa extension.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Apart from travel agents confirming this information, a WhatsApp message has also been doing rounds declaring that ‘All expired Dubai Residence Visa’s validity extended till December 9th, 2021.’<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no official confirmation by local authorities regarding Dubai visa extensions for stranded expats as of yet.<\/h2>\n

If you’re looking to return to the UAE and want to check on your visa status then you can visit the official government GDRFA website.<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Please note that a return permit<\/em> <\/a>from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) is still mandatory for residents wishing to travel back to Dubai.<\/p>\n
