<\/p>\nEven though Skype reported on their website that it has been blocked in the UAE, it may be related to a hacking incident that affected other countries in the past week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The service has also been disrupted in\u00a0Singapore, India, Pakistan and South Africa.<\/p>\n
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority most recently issued a statement<\/a> on the matter last week. Skype previously had a license to operate in the UAE so it would be unusual\u00a0for that to have changed.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201c(We are) aware of an incident where users will either lose connectivity to the application or may be unable to send or receive messages.\u201d<\/p>\n Microsoft Satement<\/cite>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
