Within the space of a week, a call from a\u00a0disgruntled citizen\u00a0to a local Ajman radio station, became the\u00a0inspiration behind an AED11billion social assistance fund.<\/p>\n

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was the driving force behind the urgent action, and in no other country in the world would this happen.<\/p>\n

The story grabbed headlines last week, after\u00a0a radio presenter in Ajman criticised a caller<\/a> and was immediately suspended from his work.<\/p>\n

Emirati citizen\u00a0Ali Al Mazrouei\u00a0had made contact with the station to discuss\u00a0\u00a0inflation,\u00a0its impact on the standard of living for senior citizens and his difficult financial situation.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster interrupting him,\u00a0saying his statements\u00a0were untrue and made fun of him with rude answers.<\/p>\n

HH Sheikh Mohammed stepped in within 24 hours<\/h3>\n

Try and imagine the ruler of any country stepping in to help a disgruntled citizen in this way…<\/p>\n

On the day the story broke, HH Sheikh Mohammed<\/a> bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai was at the Arab Media Forum at the Souk Madinat.<\/p>\n

Within 24 hours, Dubai’s ruler guaranteed to\u00a0provide a decent life\u00a0for the man and his family.<\/p>\n

Within seven days, the man was invited to speak at a UAE cabinet meeting, where a plan to support low-income citizens was presented. At that meeting on Sunday, an AED11 billion\u00a0social assistance program was approved by HH Sheikh Mohammed and\u00a0Al Mazrouei was offered\u00a0a position as a social researcher in the ministry.<\/p>\n

HH Sheikh Mohammed was at the Arab Media Forum with visiting dignitaries when the story broke<\/h4>\n

Within 24 hours, HH Sheikh Mohammed had intervened<\/h3>\n

He ‘immediately facilitated’ the needs of the caller<\/h4>\n

The idea that the ruler of a country would immediately react to a call like this is hard to believe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And how incredible that a radio call\u00a0from a disgruntled citizen has turned into an AED11billion action and commitment from HH Sheikh Mohammed.<\/p>\n
