Pti Calls Off Islamabad Protest After Government Crackdown

The heart of Islamabad witnessed chaos as PTI’s protest at D-Chowk came to an abrupt halt following a high-octane midnight operation by law enforcement.

What started as a fiery demonstration turned into a tense standoff, with Rangers stepping in to disperse the crowd, claiming they were “restoring order”

PTI, however, isn’t staying silent about what went down. In a fiery statement on X (formerly Twitter), the party condemned the crackdown, calling it an act of “brutality against peaceful demonstrators.”

According to PTI, dozens of their workers were injured, and there were fatalities too

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, a key aide to Khan, said hundreds of protesters who had marched to Islamabad demanding the release of the cricketer-turned-politician had been shot and thousands were arrested in the crackdown.

They are calling it an Islamabad massacre!

Earlier in the day, D-Chowk turned into a battleground as Rangers cleared the area, pushing protesters back from Jinnah Avenue to Khyber Plaza. Videos from the scene show the capital’s iconic spot flooded with personnel and chaos, signaling that this wasn’t your average protest dispersal.

This isn’t the first time D-Chowk has been the epicenter of political drama, but last night’s crackdown stands out for its sheer intensity.

Now, Islamabad is on edge. Both sides are weighing their next moves, but one thing’s for sure, the tension in the air isn’t clearing anytime soon…
