Get those Eid outfits ready and start prepping the qurbani list…because Eid ul Adha is just around the corner!
That’s right — a festive Friday!
Astronomer Dr Faheem Hashmi explained that the moon will be only 11 hours old at sunset on May 27, too young to be visible. BUT things change on May 28!
Translation? Zil Hajj likely starts on May 29, and Eid ul Adha on June 7!
Over in the UAE, the Emirates Astronomy Society has predicted the big day for June 6, with the crescent possibly visible on the evening of May 27. Chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan shared that the moon will appear around 7:02am UAE time and be visible for 38 minutes after sunset. So Eid will likely kick off there a day earlier than in Pakistan!
Just a little reminder… Eid ul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, honors Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son, a moment of obedience and faith that was divinely rewarded.
The day is all about prayers, family reunions, meaty feasts, and giving back, with sacrifices made and meat shared with loved ones and those in need.
Now that you know the date, time to prep your Eid look, finalize your sacrifice plans, and maybe plan that long weekend escape!
