Pakistan’s First Ever Transgender Protection Centre In Islamabad
On Wednesday, members of the transgender community gathered for the opening of the Transgender Protection Centre. Most importantly, the center will be the first of its type in the country. Moreover, it will offer legal assistance, health, and rehabilitation services. Furthermore, psychiatric counseling is now available to the transgender population.
Equal Right For Everyone!
Dr. Shireen Mazari, the Federal Minister for Human Rights, stated that the transgender population will be given equal rights. Moreover, same opportunities for work and healthcare as other inhabitants of the country. After that, Human Rights Minister Dr. Shireen Mazari opened the country’s first Transgender Protection Centre in H-9/4.
Dr. Mazari, speaking at the occasion, stated that similar centers will be created in other locations to protect the transgender community’s rights. Certainly, members of the community should have access to the same jobs and health care as other residents of the nation.
Towards A Positive Society
Meanwhile, the participants at the event were informed that the Ministry of Human Rights had taken several steps. For example, to ensure the effective implementation of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018. Furthermore, to ensure transgender people’s protection, rehabilitation, and fundamental rights, as guaranteed by the Constitution to all citizens.

Dr. Mazari stated that the PTI administration has included the transgender population in the Ehsaas Program. Secondly, in the health care programs to offer them development possibilities. Moreover, legal assistance, basic health services, psychiatric counseling, and temporary housing would all be provided. All of the above, by the Transgender Protection Centre.

Transgender Protection Centre!
The ministry had established a Transgender Protection Centre for Rs35.8 million. All of the above, it will safeguard and rehabilitate transgender people in need.
Lal Chand, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights, Inamullah, officials from the ministry, and transgender activists and community members attended the ceremony.
Legal assistance, basic health services, psychiatric counseling, and temporary housing would all be provided by the Transgender Protection Centre.
