One can’t think of any Saudi novel as popular as Ibraheem Abbas’s HWJN, partly due to the controversy surrounding it. Now, news has come in that popular book will be made into a movie and a 13-episode TV series.
HWJN is almost like the Saudi version of Twilight, except here the vampires are replaced by genies.
According to the Arab News, the announcement was made on the sidelines of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival. Major Middle Eastern production houses like MBC, Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Majid Al Futtaim are coming together to kick off this project.
