For some reason, the fad to own ‘exotic’ pets just won’t seem to go away in Saudi Arabia.

Last week, a Saudi man was arrested for taking his pet lion out on a stroll in Jeddah

Police received a complaint about the lion in public and quickly arrived at the scene to find the lion seated in the owner’s car. The owner, who is currently being questioned by police, handed the lion over to the city’s municipal authorities.

And it is hardly the first time, someone has gotten in legal troubles for keeping a wild animal in the city – a few months ago someone’s chimpanzee went out on the loose!

Domesticating wild or exotic animals is a violation of Saudi law.
