Dr. Fatmah Baothman, a Jeddah-born Saudi woman, just became the first woman in the Middle East with a PhD in Modern Artificial Intelligence.

She is hoping to work with AI to solve complex problems humanity faces

She told Arab News that she was first introduced to AI while studying English in the US and dealing with computer systems that help and assist non-native English speakers.

Then, in 2003, she graduated from the University of Huddesfield in the UK, where she earned a PhD in AI that deals with automatic speech recognition in Arabic.
