The Kingdom is pretty much an affordable country to live in, with affordable rent (compared to other Gulf cities), great local food options for great prices and more. And apparently, Mercer’s annual cost of living survey (for 2018) discovered that Riyadh only came in at #45 on the list of the most expensive cities for expats (to live in).

Here’s the list of the top 10 most expensive cities for expats to live in, as of 2018:

1. Hong Kong
2. Tokyo (Japan)
3. Zurich (Switzerland)
4. Singapore
5. Seoul (Korea)
6. Luanda (Angola)
7. Shanghai (China)
8. Ndjamena (Chad)
9. Beijing (China)
10. Bern (Switzerland)

Riyadh came in at number #45 on the list as one of the most expensive cities to live in

And Jeddah came in at #117 out of 209 cities listed. Neighbouring city Dubai came in at #26, right above Paris and below New York.
