Saudi Arabia has been added to the Formula 1 calendar this year for the first time, as the penultimate round of the series on December 5, a week before the finale in Abu Dhabi.
Construction of the circuit is underway and although some sneak peeks have been shared already, the head designer of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Carsten Tilke, has now shared some insights on what is going on.
The track is very close to the Red Sea, literally a matter of yards from the water, and not in a city centre surrounded by buildings, which is helping create the fastest street circuit with a predicted average lap speed of 252kph, says Tilke to media.

The absence of 90-degree corners, because the waterfront area is still developing, is giving a huge advantage to the construction of the circuit.
This week – Friday specifically – marks 100 days until the race in Jeddah.
