Schools in various regions of Saudi Arabia have switched to online classes this week as authorities brace for heavy rain and potential floods
The Ministry of Education announced the suspension of in-person classes in Jeddah, Madinah, Rabigh, and Khulais, shifting lessons to the Madrasati remote-learning platform.
Not just schools, but universities too!
The University of Jeddah, King Abdul Aziz University, and Umm Al Qura University have also postponed upcoming exams until further notice, urging students to stay home. This move aligns with efforts to prioritize safety amid the inclement weather conditions.
Many parts of the Kingdom are expected to experience some thundershowers
According to the General Directorate of Civil Defence, most parts of the Kingdom are expected to experience moderate to torrential thundershowers accompanied by strong winds until Friday. Affected areas include Asir, Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Jazan, Qassim, Jawf, Hail, Tabuk, Northern Borders, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.
The National Centre for Meteorology has forecasted rainfall ranging from 10mm to 50mm throughout the week, issuing weather alerts for several areas. Spokesperson Hussein Al Qahtani advised against unnecessary land travel and urged heightened caution due to anticipated poor visibility, hail, and flash floods.
