The 900-Year-Old Abu Inbeh Mosque In Jeddah Will Get A Major Facelift

Avatar

Looks like Jeddah is gearing up for a new tourist site.

The second phase of The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques is currently underway. The project aims to preserve and restore the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia by renovating 30 historical mosques in all 13 regions of the Kingdom.

The latest mosque that’s set to be restored under it is the 900-year-old Abu Inbeh Mosque in Jeddah.

Though small in size the mosque is pretty significant in terms of architecture and cultural legacy.

This architectural masterpiece is characterised by its elaborate building culture, consisting of moulded bricks, gypsum, and wood. The rawashin lattice screens of the mosque are especially noteworthy.
