Saudi Arabia was a happening place in 2017. And, considering the way that things are going many more events and celebrities are expected to come this year. But looking back here are some celebrities that visited Saudi Arabia in 2017.
From stars of popular TV shows to multi-Grammy winning artists Saudi audiences got a chance to see them all live.
Known as the most powerful man in the continent of Westeros in Game of Thrones, Charles Dance came to Jeddah to attend the Saudi Comic-Con. He was part of a panel discussion.
He performed alongside Algerian singer Cheb Khalid in what proved to be one of the most talked about concerts in the country. The multi-Grammy winning artist performed some of his greatest hits in front of an enthralled audience in King Abdullah Economic City.
Also at the Saudi Comic Con was Giancarlo Esposito. He is best known for portraying the role of Gustavo ‘Gus’ Fring in Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. He tweeted this before coming.
Yes, we even had a Star Wars actor who visited Saudi. The Danish actor has also starred in many other major Hollywood movies like Casino Royale and Doctor Strange.
By the look of the photos that were shared on Instagram, it looked like the GoT star had a blast while he was here. He even tried the Saudi rice and meat dish, Mandi.
The two Comic Con events that were held in the Kingdom brought with them a lot of celebrities. One such celebrity that arrived due to them is Greg Grunberg who attended Comic-Con Arabia. He is best known for his work in TV shows like Heroes and Alias.
Country singer Toby Keith performed in front of a live audience in Riyadh. He co-headlined the concert with Saudi singer Rabeh Saqer.
Riyadh saw many events in 2017 and one of the best ones was when John Travolta addressed about 2,000 people in Riyadh in what was a free event. He discussed his journey to fame and even had a Q&A session with the audience.
The Canadian actor who is part of famous TV shows like Lost Girl, Vikings and Arrow amongst others visited Riyadh. He even tweeted “Humbled and honoured to meet such warm and smiling people here in Saudi Arabia….”

A lot of GoT stars came to Saudi in 2017, which is obvious considering that the show has a huge following here locally. Asbæk’s character may have come pretty late in the show but he has quite a following even amongst Saudis, which was apparent when he addressed the audience at Comic-Con Arabia.
