The enchanting palace was the erstwhile home of King Abdul Aziz. Today, it stands as a meagre reflection of its glory days but it still makes for a worthy tourist site. Here’s all you need to know about it.

And took 5 years to complete

It is said to be the first building in the country to use cement and iron in its construction

Only a few parts of the gigantic palace complex survive today

The 3 most notable portions of it that still stand include the grand palace gate, the King’s residential quarters and the royal court

The gate of the palace once had iconic status as it featured on a Saudi currency note back in the 50s

Many historic treaties and agreements were signed here
