An Omani Man Has Walked All The Way To Makkah On Foot

Avatar

A former Omani Army man, 58-year-old Bakheet Al Omari, decided to take on the ultimate trek—walking all the way from Salalah, Oman, to the holy city of Makkah to mark Saudi’s Founding Day.

He followed the ancient hajj trail that Omani hajj caravans have been using for a very long time. It took him a whopping 52 days to cover the distance, starting from the Sultan Qaboos Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

He even had to cross through Yemen on his journey.

The terrain he covered was no joke—desert strips, rugged regions like Wadi Hadramawt, Najran, you name it. But he pushed through, one step at a time.

According to local media reports, Al-Omari had the green light from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth in Oman before setting off. He actually had his own walking and adventure group called ‘Sadah for Walking and Adventures’ back in Oman, so trekking isn’t exactly new territory for him.

He reached Makkah just in time to join in on the Founding Day celebrations with the locals.
