Millions of people come to Saudi for pilgrimage and once they successfully complete it they leave with hopes of returning back some day to do it again, but for one little pilgrim, it was to be his last.
According to Indian news channel NDTV, a four-year-old Indian boy who hailed from the state of Kerala died on his return flight from Saudi with the cause being cited as epileptic seizures.
Yahya Puthiyapurayil was traveling back with his family on an Oman Airways flight from Jeddah to the Indian city of Kozhikode when he developed epileptic seizures 45 minutes from take-off reports the news channel. The flight made an emergency landing at Abu Dhabi but Yahya couldn’t be saved.
Yahya was differently abled since his birth and wasn’t able to walk or talk.
An official from the Indian embassy in the UAE has reportedly said: “We opened the Embassy at night and facilitated the cancellation of the boy’s passport and registration of death and issued the no-objection letter to take the mortal remains to India.”
